LEVY OR LEAVE IT? (II)

“The Norfork [VA] Landmark”, 12 October 1893

Proof! Or, at least, highly suggestive evidence.

“Mrs. Meyer Sam” is Gussie LEVY SAM. Daughter of Max LEVY. “Miss Annie Levy” is Annie LEVY JANUARY, daughter of Morris LEVY, and sister to my great-grandmother, Julia LEVY ABRAMS.

Interestingly, one of the three newspaper articles on the marriage lists the bride as daughter of “Max Levi” (all other details are correct), so clearly there was occasionally some confusion even locally.

Added to the circumstantial events in my last post, it is certain they were related, most likely via siblingship of Morris and Max. Still trying to track down Max’s father’s name, which would successfully conclude this investigation.

…and, as one mystery begats another, there’s this article from 1891:

I have no idea, at this point, who Sol G. LEVY might be. It never ends.
